Peppermint Sleep, the latest album from Cat Box Quartet, is a mesmerizing blend of jazz, funk, and soul. The quartet, consisting of a drummer, bassist, keyboardist, and saxophonist, creates a sound that is both complex and accessible. The album opens with "Peppermint," a funky track that showcases the quartet's tight rhythm section and the saxophonist's virtuosic playing. "Sleep" is a slower, more meditative track that features a haunting melody and a beautiful solo from the keyboardist. "Cat Box Boogie" is an upbeat, danceable tune that will get your feet tapping, while "Quartet" is a more experimental piece that showcases the quartet's improvisational skills. Peppermint Sleep is a fantastic album that is sure to please fans of jazz, funk, and soul. The musicianship is top-notch, the compositions are engaging, and the production is excellent.
